India’s most talked about suit, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s monogrammed suit auction was finally settled at Rs 4.31 crore which was bided by  a diamond baron, Mr. Lalji patel on Friday late evening. District Collector of Surat, Rajendra Kumar’s bid of Rs 5.00crore for the suit was just missed  for being two minutes late from the deadline.

The bandhagala suit worn by Prime Minister during the  United States President Barack Obama’s republic  day visit had created eddy in media.

Surat-based Dharmanandan Diamonds Private Limited (DTC), a Rs 5,000-crore company, takes it away from a Modi mannequin at the Science Centre art gallery.

Bids flew thick and fast in the last hour of the auction which had no base price. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s suit along with other 455 gifts was on auction from Wednesday, 18th February,2015. The three day auction started with the bid of Rs. 1.61 crore which increased to Rs. 2.85 crore in the last leg of auction and final amount was at Rs. 4.31 crore.

The suit is auctioned for a noble purpose that is “Cleaning the Ganga”
