University of California, Irvine (UCI) Athletics organized a free fitness clinic for around 350 girls ages between 5 and 12, on Saturday, to celebrate the National Girls and Women in Sports Day. The initiative was aimed to promote and encourage female participation in the games and sports.
Around 75 UCI student-athletes and coaches mentored the participants in several games & sports, including, volleyball, basketball, track and field, soccer and cheer and dance. Each activity lasted around 35 minutes.
According to the UCI representatives, the participants were from the different areas, included nearly a hundred participants from the underserved areas in Santa Ana.
After the clinic, All participants and their families got free of cost admission to the UCI women's basketball game, organized at the Bren Events Center.
