Moreno Valley Couple Accused of Manufacturing and Selling Unregistered Assault Weapons

A Moreno Valley couple accused of manufacturing and selling unregistered assault weapons and for possessing a short-barrel rifle and a high-capacity magazine.

Bearl Andrew Leach, 33, and Sarah Anne Leach, 27, accused of 70 felony charges held in liew of $2 million bail and scheduled to be arraigned later this month.

The couple appeared before Superior Court Judge Emma Smith who unsealed the grand jury indictment issued on May 1. Smith appointed Bearl Leach, a public defender and a private attorney under the contract with County to Sarah Leach.

According to investigators, FBI task force received a tip about threats the threats the couple made. The nature of the threats and to whom they were directed was not clear.

The judge scheduled the couple’s arraignment for May 25 at Riverside Hall of Justice.

According to Riverside County District Attorney, the couple were under probe earlier this year after the Sheriff’s department received information that they had been making threats.

Police detectives recovered multiple felonious weapons at the couple’s home along with the evidence that two were operative as illegal gun dealers.

The authorities further said, the unregistered weapons seized looked custom designed and it ill-defined on who was buying them.
