Nasscom Report says that US firms may be affected with decision of disallowing H1B spouses permit

The proposed plan by Trump administration, to scrap Obama era rule, that allowed spouses of H1B visa holders to make their work in the united states will make it difficult for American industries, to retain high skilled workers, said a in a report published by Nasscom.

The lobby group of the Indian IT industry also said that the spouses are also highly skilled professionals.

According to the recent happenings with an instance of letter to Senator Chuck Grassley, and the Director of USCIS, Francis Cissna said that a formal communication is expected to made later this summer regarding the plan.

Dir Cissna also said that they also have plans which include, proposing of regulatory changes to remove H4 dependent Spouses from the category of aliens, who are really eligible for employment authorization, so revising of the 2015 final rule cloud benefit people giving a additional and credible eligibility.

He also mentioned that this action would comport with the executive order requirement to “propose new rules and issue new guidance, to replace or revise previous rules and guidance if appropriate, that can protect the interests of United States workers in the administration of our immigration system."

"Along with the other revisions to the regulations, the public will have an opportunity to provide feedback during a notice and comment period," Cissna said.

Mr.Shivendra Singh, Vice-President of Global Trade development at NASSCOM, said that the studies have proven that H1B workers create more jobs in the United States. He also added saying that "companies may find it difficult, to retain such high skill talent if the proposal goes through the senate."

Singh also said that on a humanitarian level, this will mean separation of families for many years, and USCIS is still to formally submit a proposal to the effect.
