Shane Watson from Australia has announced that he would retire from international cricket after the World Twenty20 2016, that is currently going on in India. The all rounder would end a sterling career of 14 years.

According to Cricket Australia, 34 year old Watson shared the decision to call it quits with fellow mates in Mohali, where Pakistan would play against Australia on Friday in a World T20 group match.

In a statement issued by the national cricket body, Watson said that, "It's been over the last week that it's really become clear that now really is the right time to retire from all international cricket."

At the end of 2015 Ashes tour of England, Watson retired form Test cricket. The cricketer did not play ODIs since September 2015. However, the player would be available for lucrative T20 leagues all through the World.

Watson is an opening batsman and reliable pacer. From 190 ODIs, he scored 5,757 runs and holds a record for highest ODI score made by an Australian, unbeaten 185 against Bangladesh in 2011 in Dhaka. From 56 T20 International till now, he scored 1,400 runs and took 46 wickets.

The father of two said, "I really enjoyed my time being back in the Australian squad but, it is quite different. None of the other guys that I played with growing up are here anymore."
