India Win Test Series Against England

India’s victory over England in test series will be long remembered. As this is India’s biggest series win over England ever, overshadowing 3-0 whitewash in 1993 under Mohammad Azharuddin’s captaincy.

Test Captain Virat Kholi is making right noises as he leads India to fifth     consecutive series win. After taking the captaincy from MS Dhoni in 2014, Kholi’s captaincy has registered series win over Sri Lanka (in Sri Lanka), South Africa (in India), New Zealand (in India), West Indies (in West Indies), and now England (in India).

Ravindra Jadeja, finished with his career-best figures of 7 for 48, eclipsing the 6 for 138 vs South Africa in December 2013. Jadeja has claimed 26 wickets at 25.84 runs average in the series.

Virat Kohli received his first Player of the Series award in Tests for 655 runs at an average of 109.16, including two hundreds. He also became the first Indian captain to register three double centuries in a calendar year

Karun Nair was awarded Man of the match for his overwhelming performance, scoring 303 runs and becoming second Indian player to score a Triple century.

He is the first Indian and Third batsman in the world after Sir Garfield Sobers and Bob Simpson to have converted his maiden Test hundred into a triple century.

India’s 759/7 in the 5th test was also the highest-ever team score in test.

This is the sixth time that England has conceded over 700 runs in an innings. But, this is the maximum score made by any team against England in their test history.

England’s test captain Alastair Cook is the tenth batsman to complete 11,000 runs in tests. He is the youngest batsman to accomplish the feat, has taken 10 years 290 days from his Debut.

Indian all rounder Ravichandran Ashwin scored 306 runs in the series and took 28 wickets becoming the second Indian player to complete the double of 250 runs and 25 wickets in the series..

With their defeats in Mumbai and Chennai Tests, England have earned a dubious distinction of recording successive defeats by an Innings margin. No team has ever lost in a test by an innings, after scoring as many as 477 runs in their first innings. The match was over with 10 overs to spare and an innings remaining and 75 runs.
