Three starving children have been rescued from captivity in a home by Salinas police last month. One of them was found chained to the floor. The children, including a girl and two boys, have been taken into protective custody now, Associated Press reported.

The three children were scantily fed for months. The Monterey County Sheriff Scott Miller has described the case as particularly heinous.

Miller stated that the little girl bore the brunt of the abuse in this case. Police is investigating on the case to know the duration for which the children were held captive.

Two women - 31-year-old Eraca Dawn Craig, and 44-year-old Christian Jessica Deana - have been arrested in this case.
