A San Bernardino woman dies after being stabbed at her home. The 26-year old woman had called 911 for help but she died before they could reach her.

Now homicide detectives are looking for a man who had fatally stabbed the woman to death, said authorities.

On Monday, the victim named Michelle Marie Miers called 911 for help at around 11 p.m. Miers told the 911 agent that she had been stabbed several times by a stranger at her home in, said San Bernardino Police Department Lt. Robinson.

Miers had called from a cell phone so the responders did not have the exact location. She was finally discovered through a grid search that led the respondents to the 4300 block of North Sierra Way.

Initial investigation revealed a broken sliding door, leading them to Miers, who was on the floor covered in a pool of blood.

The victim was taken to Loma Linda Regional Medical Center, where they declared her dead.

Miers has two children – one is 6 years and the other is 7 years old. At the time of the incident the kids were with their father.

Miers was stabbed to death just one month after an attempt on her life earlier. According to police, last month her ex-boyfriend had tried to shoot her.

Edgardo Vicuna, the ex-boyfriend, was arrested and charged with attempt to murder. When the stabbing took place he was in custody.

Police have not yet said whether the two crimes are related.
