Among the crucial papers recovered  are a letter of the Nripendra Misra, Principal Secretary  to the Prime Minister and copies of files from the Oil Ministry’s exploration wing, as per the report filed by the Delhi police.

Home Minister, Rajnath Singh on Saturday stated that the theft of government official documents has been happening for a long time and the guilty will not be spared.

"Jaldhi doodh ka doodh, paani ka paani ho jayega (everything will be clear). No guilty person would be spared and strictest punishment would be given to them," he told reporters in Delhi when asked about the arrest of government clerks and corporate executives about the theft of documents from the ministry of petroleum and natural gas.

"It is possible. I am not ruling out any possibility. Delhi Police is investigating the whole issue. I think the issue will come to light very soon, but it is certain that such things have been going on for a long time and that is why the situation has reached such a stage. If we were not alert, these things would not have come to light," he said.

Shailesh Saxena of Reliance Industries Ltd, Vinay Kumar of Essar, KK Naik of Cairns, Subhash Chandra of Jubilant Energy and Rishi Anand of ADAG Reliance have been booked under laws relating to criminal conspiracy and dishonestly receiving stolen property.
