Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to become the fourth Indian premier to visit America’s West Coast as he is expected to visit San Francisco, after addressing to the Sustainable Development Summit on 25 September 2015.

Narendra Modi to address UN development summit

Narendra Modi will address the United Nations (UN) hosted, high-level summit on sustainable development and adoption of the post-2015 development agenda. The United Nations summit will be held from 25 September to 27 September 2015.  

It is expected that Modi will address the gathering on September 25 and later move to the West Coast to visit San Francisco.

The summit will be convened as a high-level plenary meeting of the General Assembly, which is expected to be attended by more than 150 world leaders. Slated to be one of the largest ever gatherings at the UN, the summit’s objective is to formally adopt the outcome document of the new agenda.

On September 15, the 70th session of the General Assembly will open. The annual high-level General Debate will begin on 20 September and end on 6 October. Sushma Swaraj, External Affairs Minister, is likely to represent India at the General Debate.
