More than 1,000 acres of land was burnt by a wildfire in Southern California. This eventually forced to the evacuation and closure of parts of two major highways, according to fire officials.

The Facebook page of the county fire department revealed that over 500 fire-fighters are battling the blaze at the scene or en route, in the Ventura County’s Solimar Beach area. Officials have closed parts of the 101 and Pacific Coast highways. Ventura is located nearly 65 miles northwest of Los Angeles.

There were no reports of injuries, while the fire blazes still, as per the reports from the local media. There is no update from fire officials.

On Friday, at nearly 10:30 pm local time, the fire started. The rapid growth of the blaze is due to dry vegetation as well as strong winds, reported the ABC TV station in Los Angeles.

A video was posted on Facebook on Saturday at around 2 a.m. local time, in which Steve Kaufman, Venture County Fire Department Captain said that the “fire was near the beach, bumping up against the roadway. We’re getting a bunch of embers in Solimar east.”

According to fire officials, a mandatory evacuation order was levied on the Solimar Beach community, the nearby Faria Beach community was issued a voluntary evacuation.
