In a shocking incident, a two-year-old allegedly shot a one-year-old sibling in the face, leaving the infant in serious condition, Baton Rouge police said.

According to the police, the shooting took place inside a parked vehicle in north Baton Rouge, the capital of the state of Louisiana in the United States of America.

The authorities said that, the child was reportedly taken to Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center by a personal vehicle instead of EMS.

Paramedics and law enforcement said, they are looking for the location where the incident happened. They believe it took place near the Florida Blvd., North Foster intersection.

Police spokesperson Sergeant L'Jean McKneely said that, they were called in to EMS at 7:23 p.m. and occurred at a parking lot near a strip mall.

A tow truck was also seen leaving the hospital with what is presumed to be the car involved in the shooting.

Mr McKneely said that, there were two adults around but he's not sure how the two-year-old got a hold of the gun. The shooting is still under investigation.
