Some doctors at the clinics which who treat undocumented immigrants said that they have seen fewer patients come in recently amid a national crackdown on immigration.
They said that many are foregoing necessary treatment out of fear of bringing their undocumented status to the attention of authorities.
For example, at Antelope Valley Community Clinic in the Lancaster, no one is turned away regardless of the insurance or ability to pay. But lately doctors there are seeing more patients skip their appointments for treatment.
A dentist, Dr. Richard Rojas said that, in the last few months we noticed a drop-off considerable number of people that are coming in for treatment.
"Maria," an undocumented immigrant, has two young children who are citizens and need regular checkups and also immunizations. But going to the doctor at hospital feels risky to her now.

She also said, I'm afraid with all the news and everything that they tell us that we are going to get stopped at any time and deported.
For some immigrants, waiting to see the doctor can mean life or death. Rojas said that regardless of immigration status, patients should not ignore their medical needs.
In response to the situation, the Community Clinic Association of Los Angeles County has been offering training to the doctors, so that doctors will know how to talk to the patients about their health rights.
Rojas said that, we do not divulge their information to anybody because it is a HIPAA violation and the patients should understand and feel safe here.
