An Indian-American post doctoral research student at the Stanford University and alumini of the IIT Kanpur, Sayak Banerjee, has seemingly vanished without any trace in California. The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help in finding a 33-year-old Banerjee, who is missing from almost two weeks.
In the 1100 block of Laurel Street in the San Carlos, Banerjee lives, and his last sight by his neighbors was in the week of April 16th and also his wife has last spoke with him through phone on 20th April, as per the Sheriff’s Office, reported by the Mercury News.
According to the Banerjee’s LinkedIn profile, at the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Stanford, he is a postdoctoral researcher studying the jet fuels and also rocket fuels. Banerjee received his Ph.D. from the Stanford in the year 2014.
Banerjee’s wife reported him missing on Monday, after he failed to arrive at the Orlando International Airport, where Benerjee was supposed to meet her. Detective Sal Zuno said that Banerjee was scheduled to fly out of the San Francisco International Airport, but there is no evidence that he boarded a flight.
Banerjee also works as a mechanical engineer in the Bay Area and he regularly travels to Florida, where his wife lives and also works, said Zuno.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, Banerjee is believed to have been driven away from his home in his black 2005 Hyundai Accent. The license plate number of his car is 6VDS335.
The Sheriff’s Office characterized the disappearance of Banerjee as “abnormal,” but no evidence has surfaced to suggest the foul play.
“Nothing has turned up so far that suggests there was a problem,” said Zuno, reported the Mercury News.
