Soundgarden’s Chris Cornell Laid To Rest In Los Angeles

On Friday, Chris Cornell, a late Soundgarden frontman, was laid down to rest at the Hollywood Forever Cemetery in Los Angeles.

The band members from Metallica, Linkin Park and also the likes of Brad Pitt and Pharrell Williams have attended the private memorial service along with the Cornell's family, which preceded for public viewing of the burial site, according to the Associated Press.

The private memorial opened with a Cornell's song "The Promise," while the fans are waiting outside for their chance to pay their final respects to the Seattle icon listened to the music from his band Soundgarden, added the Associated Press.

The Hollywood Forever Cemetery is the final resting place of number of celebrities, including John Huston, Jayne Mansfield, Cecil B. DeMille, and Johnny and Dee Dee Ramone.

Cornell, aged 52, was found dead on 17th May in the Detroit hotel room, and his death has been later ruled as a suicide by hanging. However, Cornell’s family said that they believe medication may have a role in his death.

"Chris, a recovering addict, had a prescription for Ativan and may have taken more Ativan than recommended dosages. The family believes that if Chris took his life, he did not know what he was doing, and that drugs or other substances may have affected his actions," said the family attorney Kirk Pasich in a press release, in the last week.

Drug Cornell’s widow said that, the family attorney could not confirm if the musician took was the Ativan or its generic version, lorazepam.

Earlier in this week, Cornell's widow wrote an open letter to her husband.

"I'm broken, but I will stand up for you and I will take care of our beautiful babies. I will think of you every minute of every day and I will fight for you," she wrote in letter.
