Narendra Modi Counters May on State of Indian Prisons

In a consequence to British Prime Minister Theresa May's remark on Indian jails, Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi opposed that they are the alike jails where freedom fighters like Mahatma Gandhi and Pandit Nehru were captivated during the British Rule, according to a account of the meeting shared by Minister of External Affairs of India Sushma Swaraj.

According to Ms. Swaraj, the two leaders while addressing the trouble of Indian fugitives like Vijay Malya and Lalit Modi, based in United Kingdom has elevated the issue of Indian jails being "worse than in Russia".

Addressing a press conference on the accomplishments of Modi government in the last four years, Sushma Swaraj, on the efforts of Indian governments to bring back the liquor baron said, "We have sent the extradition request to the UK. Among the cases going on against him in the courts, one case by SBI-led consortium that had 12 Indian banks has been won. It has been told that all banks can go ahead and do their recoveries."

Using Twitter

In the 90 minute press conference held once in a year to fend for NDA's foreign policy, there were different heated moments. In specific, Ms. Swaraj reacted acutely when she was asked regarding use of social media platform Twitter to bid Indian ambassadors to issue passports and visas to Indians, Pakistanis and other nationalities.    

Ms. Swaraj shot back saying “Ask people from around India and those stranded abroad about my Twitter policy. Insensitive people can make fun of my efforts, but that day when someone in their home is stuck, they will understand the importance of Twitter.”
